ASSESSMENT AND EXAMINATION

Students are awarded the Certificate of Attendance provided they fully attend and actively participate in classes, complete all assignments, as well as pass all end-of-course assessments.

Students are awarded the Diploma provided that they fulfill the requirements outlined above for the Certificate of Attendance as well as produce a dissertation and defend it before an ad hoc international jury panel.

Students who wish to submit a dissertation, which should be written work in reference to their studies, are assigned a supervisor for their dissertation who is also a member of the jury panel.

Dissertations can be written in any official EU language following consultation with the Academy’s Secretariat.

Students should submit three (3) copies of their dissertation to the Academy’s Secretariat no later than 31 May 2010 in the form of a complete draft and preferably a final draft, which should not be less than 60 and no more than 100 pages (1.5 spaced, Times New Roman 12 Font). In addition, their assigned supervisor should submit his/her recommendations on the dissertation to the Academy’s Secretariat by 31 May 2010 as well. It is the students’ responsibility to make sure that their supervisor submits his/her recommendations by 31 May 2010. The Academy’s Secretariat will forward the dissertation drafts to the Curatorium who will assess them in the framework of granting admission to the students.

Students whose dissertation is less than 60 or more than 100 pages, or students requesting a deadline extension for submitting their dissertation draft should file a formal request in the form of a cover letter addressed to the Curatorium through the Academy’s Secretariat defending the reasons for not complying with the guidelines along with their assigned supervisor’s opinion. The Curatorium will subsequently decide whether or not to accept the student’s dissertation.

Admitted students should bring a copy of their dissertation final draft with them at the study session for the oral assessment.

Attendance is mandatory. Full attendance means daily attendance of all classes of each session. To fully attend students should not miss more than two (2) days of classes. Students who miss more than two (2) days of classes should provide satisfactory justification for their absence and may be still be eligible for the Certificate and/or Diploma, pending on the Academy Directorate’s decision.
